In order to give you complete confidence in buying from us, we provide an independent diamond report from internationally respected gemmological laboratories to accompany your purchase. This we supply with all new diamonds weighing 0.50 carats and over. Our expert staff will be happy to guide you through the report and answer any queries.

Valuations

Georga Anderson is member of the National Association of Jewellers, and Independent Registered Valuer (FIRV) and a Fellow of the Jewellery Valuers Association (FJVA). With extensive experience in jewellery valuations, Georga is able to provide professional valuation services at H.L. Brown. These services include valuations for insurance, probate, and sale between parties, all carried out on-site to ensure the safety and security of your jewellery.

Our charges for valuations for insurance are the report fee is £60, plus £25 per item plus 1.2% of the total item value, inclusive of VAT. All items are thoroughly cleaned and tested. Your valuation is presented in a presentation folder, with access to an online version, and all items are accompanied with photographs.

Our charges for valuations for probate are identical except there is a 2.4% of the value charge.

For example, a single stone diamond ring with an insurable value £2,500. The fee would be £60 for the report, £25 for the item plus 1.2% (£30), making the total charge £115.

Gemstone Testing

One of the questions most frequently asked of a jeweller is, ‘Is it real?’ as a customer hands over an item containing a gemstone. We have both experienced gemmologists and a well-equipped laboratory to provide you with a professional service.
